Welcome to the website of
Region 6 Southwest
British Sugarcraft Guild

The Aims of the Guild are:

  • To promote and stimulate interest in Sugarcraft as a art form
  • To share knowledge
  • To develop talent
  • To improve standards

Region 6 Southwest is one of 7 regions in the British Sugarcraft Guild (BSG). Our region runs from Lands End to Bristol northwards, and to Weymouth in the east, incorporating Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and Dorset . We also cover Guernsey, which is one of the Channel Islands. We have 12 branches in the region and members who range from beginners, right up to experienced sugarcrafters. We also have many Individual members, some of whom find it hard to get to a nearby branch and they are always welcome to visit the branches and our Regional meetings, held twice a year in May and November. Please contact us for regional enquiries or the National Office for more details on becoming an Individual member. You can also find out more about membership (and join!) on the main BSG website www.bsguk.org.

We are a very friendly region and are always delighted to welcome new members and /or visitors to our branch meetings where they can enjoy a demonstration, refreshments and a chat with other enthusiastic sugarcrafters. It's a great opportunity to swap ideas or get advice on problems.

We're all getting excited about the British Sugarcraft Guild's International Exhibition at Telford on 19th and 20th May 2012.  There's going to be some great work on display as well as 50 traders (4 from abroad), competitions, demonstrations, mini dems, etc etc!  Exhibition info (including competition schedules) is available following this link   http://www.bsguk.org/2012_exhibition.html

There are still a few spaces available for the Skills School at Canterbury 28 June to 2 July.  Includes 2 days royal icing with Jan Thorpe and 1 1/2 days Orchid and foliage with Janet Foster.  Take a look at the skills school page for more info.

Exeter Branch is holding their annual exhibition at Exmouth on Sunday 29th July this year.  A free competition 'raise a smile' will take place, judged by the public.  Please take a look at the National events page and/or use the contact form for more info and an entry form.

We are delighted to hear from you at any time, but please don't forget to include your e-mail address so that we can reply.

The region is run by the three Regional Representatives:

    Merril Archer - Chairman

    Marion Bissell - Secretary

Sharron Godfrey - Treasurer
